A 5 day journey into our planet's greatest ecosystem
- The Amazon Basin!
The nature walks on this trip are relatively
easy and tend to move at a slow pace in order to better
spot wildlife. Bear in mind that it is hot and humid
in the Amazon year round.

Itinerary:
The itineraries vary slightly according to the number
of days. Activities generally include a variety of guided
forest walks, early morning birding excursions, visits
to the canopy tower, and canoe trips on the lodge's
lake and small surrounding rivers.
Day 1: Quito to Coca
Depart Quito this morning on a short
flight over the Andes to the town of Coca on the Napo
River. After a short drive to the dock, board a motorized
canoe for your trip downriver. The Napo River runs all
the way from the Ecuadorian highlands to the Amazon
River. Packed lunches are provided for your enjoyment
during this journey. Upon arriving at the entrance to
the Napo Wildlife Center Reserve, you'll switch to smaller
dugout canoes for your first excursion into the Amazon
Basin! As you are paddled quietly up the black-water
Anangu creek to the lodge, you'll have your first opportunity
to experience the jungle wildlife. Guests may see giant
otters fishing along the shores, kingfishers perched
in the overhanging branches, hawks silhouetted high
above, or any of the area's eleven species of monkeys
traveling through the forest in search of tropical fruits.
Arrive at the lodge in time to freshen up and enjoy
a warm dinner in the beautiful dining area as you learn
about the lodge's efforts to preserve their land and
the traditions of the local Anagu community peoples.
Days 2 - 4: Explore the Rainforest
From its location within the protected
Yasuni National Park, the lodge offers exciting activities
for travelers of all physical abilities.
Meet toucans on equal terms, watch as flocks of colorful
tanagers fly by at eye level, and search for the three-toed
sloth from high atop the canopy tower. Survey the shores
of the lodge's lake for glow-worms and the twinkling
eyes of black caiman on a moonlit evening canoe trip.
Take it all in on nature walks through maintained paths
along the forest floor. Comfortably watch from the accessible
blinds as thousands of parrots and parakeets flock to
the nearby licks to eat the clays that aid in their
digestion of toxic seeds. Or visit the local community
to experience a truly unique way of life. Exceptional
lodge guides, fluent in both English and Spanish, will
share all they know about the wide-ranging flora and
fauna encountered on your excursions. Native Quichua
Indian guides, who also accompany your day's activities,
happily share their stories of the rainforest spirits
and illustrate for guests how they make use of natural
resources in their everyday lives. Each evening you
will return to your luxury Amazon lodge where you can
enjoy wonderful meals and immerse yourself in the captivating
Amazon ecosystem!
Day 5: Return to Quito
After breakfast, enjoy your last canoe
excursion back downstream to the Napo River as the forest
around you wakes up and the wildlife becomes active
for another day. Board the motorized canoe and head
back upstream to Coca for your return flight to Quito.
